Since january 1st of this year, people over 65 years old had a fall in Europe, sometimes with serious consequences.

Dr Frédéric BLOCH is a hospital practitioner, a geriatrician at Broca Hospital, the head of the geriatric intervention team at Cochin Hospital, which operates in the emergency room and in the medical and surgical departments to promote healthcare for seniors and improve the treatments offered.
He more specifically works in the areas of degenerative diseases, dementias, movement pathologies and falls, and participated in various research projects as an investigator or co-investigator.
He is currently participating as a scientific coordinator to the CHUTADOM study, which focuses on falls at home among people over 75. This observational prospective study was initiated with Cochin Hospital in January 2006 and the analysis of the results is underway. Dr Bloch is involved in the geriatric training of nursing and medical students, notably in the units regarding gerontopsychiatry and fall prevention. Moreover, he coordinated a working group assessing professional practices regarding fall prevention in aftercare and rehabilitation departments within the framework of the accreditation of Broca Hospital.As head of the geriatric intervention team, he has an advisory role with the medical staff, the patients and their families, in the preparations required when patients return home. He is therefore an expert in the questions relating to preventing falls among the elderly and caring for them.
